Perennial: Deciduous. Deer resistant. Native to shady forested areas in Japan. The finely-toothed arching leaves emerge sunny yellow & retain their color. Clusters of tiny white flowers in summer are followed by purple fruit. The berries are adored by birds, but inedible by humans. Foliage will retain color if grown w/ at least 2-3 hours of sun each day. Heavy shade yields lime-green foliage. Attracts pollinators. Size: 4' x 4'. Water: mod./moist. USDA Z3.
